The neighbourhood appeals to visitors with its vibrant, colourful character as well as its historic heritage.
Indeed, you can access the area through the famous Saint-Denis Gate, a triumphal arch with sumptuous bas-reliefs, built in 1672 to the glory of the Sun King, Louis XIV. And as you wander the local streets, you'll find a lively, hip and cosmopolitan atmosphere. On Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis, there is a plentiful supply of bars, restaurants, delicatessens and groceries. At no. 16 there's a brasserie within a superb Art Nouveau building that's a listed Historic Monument.
The street is also dotted with various picturesque passages, like Passage du Prado at no. 12, Passage de l'Industrie at no. 42, Passage Brady aka Little India at no. 46, Passage Reilhac at no. 54 and Passage du Désir at no. 84. At no. 61 bis, the charming courtyard of Cour des Petites-Écuries and its restaurants draw many visitors. After Passage du Désir, head to Rue de Paradis!
Children and adults alike will adore Le Manoir de Paris, a "haunted house" in an old ceramics factory. Thrills are guaranteed! This typical street of the district also includes some old crystal works.
I recommend you take a VTC or a taxi from the airport to the flat, or take RER B to Gare du Nord, then line 4 to Gare de l'Est station, journey time approx. 1hr10
