4bd villa on vineyard near Roussillon, pool, internet

Located in: Roussillon
Located in an ancient five-acre vineyard, Maison de la Route is enclosed by mature gardens in a serene country setting.  The villa resides in a small and quiet hamlet just a few miles from Roussillon, one of the Luberon regions’ most picturesque hill-top towns, and offers pastoral views of surrounding fields and the red-orange tinted buildings of Roussillon. Roussillon is as photogenic as it is ancient.  A protected village since 1943, no modern development has been allowed and it retains all the charm the passing centuries have bestowed.  A large ochre deposit nearby was mined for the pigment up until the end of World War II and it is that which gives the town’s buildings their distinctive red colour. The Luberon has one of Provence’s most admired landscapes. Windblown forests, vineyards, villages that date back to prehistoric times, fields full of lavender and a rolling countryside culminating in the Luberon Mountains make for an idyllic backdrop to enjoy the food and culture and explore the area on the many hiking trails and footpaths. Maison de la Route is completely in harmony with its surroundings.  Vine covered walls of native sandstone ensure privacy, shady terraces sheltered by mature trees offer a restful place to dine or enjoy conversation with a glass of wine, and a large salt water pool is just steps away. The interior of the villa is well appointed and comfortable with many decorative touches and architectural details that add interest and appeal.  Arched doorways open to the terrace; decorative wrought iron railings secure the balconies; antique furniture is tastefully displayed; massive walls create deep windows and substantial doorways. The spacious living room soars to two stories with an attractive wrought iron railing defining the wide upper hall that overlooks the main floor.  Comfortable overstuffed furniture settled around a fire place makes a cozy conversation area.  The adjacent dining area has seating for six to eight.  The jewel of the villa is undoubtedly the newly renovated gourmet kitchen.  Spacious and well equipped it’s well-suited to the food enthusiast or amateur chef. A second floor covered balcony offers al fresco dining, or choose from several other areas on the ground floor terraces for outdoor dining, or lounging.  There is a patio beside the pool with sun loungers for enjoying the sun and a landscaped garden full of flowering plants, vines, shrubs, trees and floral containers. The villa has four bedrooms each with a newly renovated en suite bath.  Bedroom one has king sized bed, which can be split into two singles, direct access to the courtyard and en-suite bath with shower, sink and WC.  Bedroom two has a queen sized bed, direct access to the court yard and en-suite bath with shower, sink and WC.  The remaining two bedrooms are on the second floor and both offer en-suite bathrooms; one bedroom has direct access to the covered terrace.  An additional room on the second floor serves as an office but can be converted to a child’s room with the roll-out sofa bed.  An en-suite bath contains shower, sink and WC. Maison de la Route is a delightful location for enjoying the many pleasures of Provence. Explore the ancient towns of the Luberon, hike the trails, visit the farmer’s markets or relax at home by the pool.
