The main living area, spacious and light, is open-plan , with fitted kitchen and a large fireplace. There are two sofas and a large dining table. French windows give on to the west-facing terrace.
A couple of steps up is another smaller living area. There are two double bedrooms on each side of it, one with an en-suite shower room, the other with a bathroom right next to it.
Upstairs is the third, vast bedroom (approx 59m2) in the converted loft. There is also a sitting area there, with armchairs and a desk.

There are two main outside sitting areas, the west-facing terrace and a south-facing one which overlooks the swimming pool. The south-facing terrace is an ideal place for quiet breakfasts in the morning sun. The west-facing terrace has a large catalpa tree which provides wonderful shade for those hot, lazy summer days. On summer evenings, when the sun sets very late, the terrace is a perfect place for long dinners.
The 11mx5m swimming pool is reached by a short run of steps from the south terrace. It has a shallow end (about 1.3m) The max depth is about 2m. It has a solar-powered roll-up cover, easy to use, to keep the heat in at night, and detachable steps. The pool is in an idyllic, sheltered setting, with views of the house and gardens on one side and of the fields and forests on the other.
The garden has two rockeries, a small orchard with apple, peach and fig trees, and lawned areas.
The house is not completely isolated, whilst providing privacy. The neighbouring house is owned by an English couple, not commercially let. While the two houses are close, they don’t overlook each other. The outdoor sitting areas and the swimming pool are not visible from the neighbouring house.
We are in a region of noted medieval chateaux, bastide towns and villages.
The must-visit places are the majestic castles of Bonaguil and Biron. They also feature as venues for out-door concerts and plays.
Nearby attractions include the bastide villages and towns of Villefranche-du-Perigord, Monpazier, Monflanquin, Cazals and Belves. The 13th-century bastide town of Monpazier is a true gem among the bastide towns and officially on the list of the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. All of these towns and villages hold regular weekly markets.
Most villages also hold weekly evening food markets (marches nocturnes), where you choose from a wide selection of freshly cooked food, and wines and beers from local producers.
You can enjoy swimming and canoeing on the river Lot, 15min away, starting from the beautiful medieval town of Puy L’Eveque. The river Dordogne, 45 mins north, offers spectacular views of magnificent castles and villages carved out of the cliffs above the water.
For true adventure: a short drive away from the house is Parc-en-Ciel , a forested country park with outdoor activities for all the family and forest adventure trails.
For wine-lovers: across the river Lot lie the vineyards where you can taste and buy the famous Cahors red wine. The town of Cahors itself, with its gracious bridge and busy, touristy markets, is 40km away.Get the full listing »
