For a simple weekend or week, you will become a little Lourmarinois in this adorable guest house of the 16th century hidden in the heart of one of the most beautiful villages in France, Lourmarin.
Dating back to 1582 as "the third oldest residence in Lourmarin", and located not far from Albert Camus and close to the Castle, it is an ideal base to discover Provence and the Luberon.
While passing under the vaults of the dead end of La Cordière you will discover a haven of peace unsuspected: well sheltered by its stone walls 5 delightful lodgings and independent rooms articulate around a calm, fresh, romantic inner courtyard far from noise and passersby but close to all amenities.
Here the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. We like to say "you are here at home"!
Pets are welcome on request.
The house is harmoniously articulated around a romantic and shaded inner courtyard.
Here nothing is square, no room is identical. Each one has its own atmosphere, its own charm. Beautifully decorated with antique objects over the years, they all have a large double bed and comfortable, a beautiful bathroom, a kitchen, a dining and relaxation area and TV and stereo. The wifi is available everywhere.
In order to allow you to relax pleasantly, individual tables, chairs and deckchairs are arranged in the courtyard near the summer kitchen at your disposal. If your day has been busy and you prefer to stay calm, you can sit around a large farm table for light meals. BBQ facilities are available.
With its narrow streets, its squares adorned with sculpted fountains, its cafes with sunny terraces, Lourmarin attracts more than the tourist passing by: its label of "one of the most beautiful villages of France" is not usurped and number of artists have taken up residence there. The first of them, Albert Camus, Nobel Prize for Literature, rest there.
But Lourmarin has mainly a permanent animation: the Renaissance castle, small Villa Medicis open to art, knowledge and friendship, as well as the majestic Protestant listed temple, welcome in the spring of multiple concerts of exceptional quality (including some enter the program of the La Roque d'Anthéron Piano Festival).
Many galleries exhibit paintings and watercolors painted by painters throughout the year. Among the writers and artists who chose to live there, well hidden in the surrounding countryside, is Peter Mayle who contributed so much with his best seller "A year in Provence" to the influence of our region in the world.
As far as gastronomy is concerned, there is no need to go further to taste all that Provence offers the best: from the simple bistro to the Michelin-starred restaurants, everyone will find happiness at all prices: Lourmarin has a good fortnight good restaurants and wine estates offer tastings you'll remember!
The weekly market, one of the most beautiful in Provence by its colors and its diversity, takes place on Friday morning. It attracts many tourists, but has remained on a human scale and you will love its musical atmosphere and "good kid".
Culinary demonstrations by local restaurateurs enliven the farmers market held on Tuesday evening from May to October on the theme of organic agricultural products and wine.Get the full listing »
