Nature-lovers will jump at the chance to stay at Lovers Key Beach Club 501, located on Estero Bay and adjacent to Lovers Key State Park. Then again, even if your idea of communing with nature is to sit by the pool while palm trees sway in the breeze, you’ll still relish your time at our 1-bedroom condo.
The covered balcony of Lovers Key Beach Club 501 overlooks the bay and Big Carlos Pass, which connects the bay to the Gulf of Mexico. As you sit at the patio table sipping your morning coffee or after-dinner drink, you might spy dolphins frolicking among the boats and bald eagles soaring across the seemingly boundless sky. If you’re looking for an ideal selfie background, you’ve just found it!
You can savor the same views from inside the condo, thanks to the sliding glass doors that connect the living area to the balcony. When you’re not gazing at the sand and surf, kick back on the couch and watch a movie on the HDTV with cable, curl up with a book, or perch at the breakfast bar with your tablet to take advantage of the free WiFi.
You’ll probably want to eat most of your meals out on the balcony—when you’re dining in one of the many nearby restaurants or barbecuing in Lovers Key Beach Club’s outdoor grill area. But you can also cook and dine inside unit 501. The open kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, cookware, and tableware. You can go all-out and prepare those elaborate dishes you never have the time to make at home, then sit at the breakfast bar and enjoy in air-conditioned comfort.
The bedroom offers the same emphasis on comfort and ease as the rest of Lovers Key Beach Club 501, from the king-size bed to the generous storage to the lamps flanking the bed so that one person can go to sleep while the other stays up reading. Should friends drop by or you decide to bring the kids, the living room sofa converts into a twin bed with a trundle, enabling the condo to sleep up to 4 people. When you arrive, you’ll find your bed beautifully made up, extra bedding at hand, and plenty of towels for the bathroom, which includes a combination shower/tub. There’s no need to load up your luggage with linens from home.

The beach includes tiki huts to help you keep cool when the sun reaches its zenith. The pool, meanwhile, is surrounded by a sundeck where you can laze on one of many poolside chaises. There’s an outdoor hot tub as well. When you return from biking, fishing, or golfing, you’ll want to make a beeline for its soothing waters. if you reel in any grouper you can barbecue it at the condo complex’s outdoor gas grills, then dine on the patio overlooking lush tropical flora.
Just beyond the condo complex is Lovers Key State Park, which includes 2.5 miles of sandy coastline along the Gulf of Mexico. While you’re in the park, in addition to swimming, beachcombing, and fishing, you can hike or bike among nature trails or canoe, kayak, or paddleboard among estuaries. Along the way you’re likely to spot dolphins, manatees, tortoises, marsh rabbits, and birds ranging from ospreys to egrets.
Just a little farther afield are the sugary sands of Fort Myers Beach and the restaurants, shops, and live entertainment of Estero Island’s Times Square area. Or you can take a casino cruise, a ferry to Sanibel Island, a boat tour of the Everglades…
