We are taking extra precautions due to the Corona virus. We are using Clorox wipes on all light switches, door knobs, bathroom fixtures, and also performing extra disinfection in the kitchen. This is in addition to our usual thorough cleaning of fixtures, phone, countertops, furniture and floors. We are also putting into temporary storage all board games and our bins of toys.
Through mid-July we are blocking a day between reservations to ensure that the ozone generator can run for disinfection, and that the ozone will dissipate before guests (and housekeeper) arrive the next day.
Before arrival you must be asymptomatic and not have been in proximity with anyone who had recently been ill. You must also agree to social distancing by minimizing contact with locals and practicing safe behavior by wearing a mask in stores.
We highly recommend that guests bring all provisions with them as to not go to the local grocery or restaurants and be in contact with the locals. Not only does that reduce the chance of spreading the virus, the local grocers are limiting access and there will be long lines and limited supplies so you will be better off coming prepared.
These are unique times that we must navigate and we are doing all we can to keep everyone safe, including our cleaning staff.
Vacation at this secluded property offered by All Get Out Vacation Rentals! (Please note that the map view is not currently accurate -- it is approximately 4 miles north of Stuart Recreation Area)
Enjoy your own private beach with no other houses in sight. Open meadows, trees, river and stream -- this secluded yet accessible cabin has it all. Warm and welcoming three bedroom, 2 full baths, sleeping porch, open kitchen with modern appliances, gas grill, outdoor fire-pit, and fine furnishings throughout.
Listen to the sound of the babbling brook within 50 feet of the house while lounging in the sunroom or relaxing on the deck. In addition, the property has 27 acres of private beach access to the Shavers fork river. The house is engulfed in a narrow band of trees and surrounded by meadows and glades for walks (bring long pants and socks to explore). It is also situated just 1/4 mile upstream from the one-million acre Monongahela National Forest.
The house features natural wood-plank paneling and a well-appointed kitchen, free wifi, 2 televisions with satellite TV and DVD players, and a stereo/home theater system. The kitchen is open to the dining area, perfect for social cooking. The sunroom has seating for dining or board games with a full view of the stream so you can enjoy the outdoors even in inclement weather.
This cozy ground-level home sleeps 8 in beds with additional options of the living room pull-out and sun porch (the latter in warm months or for the polar bears in your group). There is a MBR w/ Queen; BR #2 w/ Queen, BR #3 w/ two sets of Twin bunks, Livingroom w/ Queen pull-out sofa, and (unheated) Sun Porch w/ a queen bed.
For fall or early spring visits, the house features electric heat and a wood-stove (a modest amount of firewood is included in the rental fee). There is a window unit A/C in each of the two queen bedrooms, and a ceiling fan in the living room and in each of the queen bedrooms.
In winter months, be prepared for snowy and/or icy road conditions by driving a 4WD or suitable vehicle. Note that we are now requiring 4WD for winter rental (or chains). It's advisable whenever driving in wintry conditions in the mountains of WV as the roads are often hazardous. At times the snow can be deep and it takes 24-48 hours before it is plowed, therefore you should be prepared to be flexible about travel.
The cabin is remote, so even in clear weather its narrow mountain gravel road can be concerning to those not experienced. Depending on whether the road crew has done repairs recently there may be potholes. In most cases you can drive around them, but there may be a few on the way that you’ll just need to slowly drive through. There are also no guardrails on the road, but it has several turnouts to allow cars to pass. The gravel is not suitable for street motorcycles.
Please be aware of the close proximity of the stream to decide if the risk is too great for your toddlers or other children who might leave the house unsupervised. Our other VRBO listing #317752 has a larger land buffer between the house and the moving water.
The river is about a 5 minute walk across the property from the house. There is no vehicular traffic allowed off the driveway.
Pet friendly -- dogs only please, and no more than two dogs per reservation unless owner exception is offered.
Owners provide a starter quantity of paper products, bathroom soap, and laundry/dish detergent. Personal toiletries are to be provided by Guests.
Cleaning fee covers laundry, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, bathroom/kitchen sanitizing, and garbage removal. Guests are expected to otherwise leave the house in the condition they found it.
We want to ensure that this property is the right fit for you! This is our vacation home that we are sharing – we are not a resort with a maintenance, concierge, and cleaning staff – and our prices reflect that limitation. That said we have put together as many resources as possible to help you plan your trip and enjoy your stay as if it were your own vacation home. We also have tried to stock the house so that you would not want for much upon your arrival.
If you are looking for a remote mountain getaway and are willing to roll with what comes from a country vacation, you will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful spot!
Because the house is surrounded by forests, the creek, and the river, there is plenty of nature to enjoy but also to endure. Mice will occasionally come inside, and although we set hidden traps to keep them from settling in, there is a possibility that you will see them during your stay depending on whether they've found a food source recently (it could be from a prior guest -- not your own doing.) We do, however, check to make sure that the kitchen implements are sanitary at the beginning of your stay.
The bug situation is that we are at a high enough elevation to not have a mosquito problem, but there will be gnats in the field, and moths at night wanting to get into the house. There will also be plenty of dead bugs that wedge themselves between the screens and the windows, and cobwebs sprouting up here and there.
If these aspects of nature are acceptable to you, then you will find a beautiful place of nature in which to relax and enjoy your vacation!
