The well-stocked kitchen features new appliances, a variety of baking pans, kitchenware, and stockpots, as well as a blender, coffee maker, electric teakettle, crockpot, waffle iron and griddle so you can cook as much as you desire. Or you can dine out around the island and sample the fresh and local fare. Venture out to Deer Harbor, Westsound, Doe Bay or Olga to experience all that island cuisine has to offer. With its central island location, the North Shore Retreat is 15 to 20 minutes from most island destinations.
Rosario Resort, a pleasant and scenic drive from the house, with its historic mansion and lovely waterfront location is another destination you will want to explore for a taste of island history. Island Hoppin' Brewery located near the airport provides the craft beer lover with a variety of local brews.
The house features two bedrooms, a spacious master with views to the water, walk-in closet, dressing room and bathroom, seating area and queen bed, a second bedroom with a double bed, a shared full bath, and a generously sized bonus room with a queen sleeper couch and stacked daybed, which provides two additional twin-sized sleeping accommodations.
Ping pong, TV with a DVD player and movie collection, HDMI to USB cable so that you can stream your favorite shows, plus board games, cards and puzzles, are also provided. The great room has an inviting seating area with views of the water and is adjacent to the dining area and kitchen.
The central island location makes the house a perfect home base from which to explore Moran State Park and its many hiking and biking trails, two lakes for non-motorized boating, fishing and swimming, and the historic lookout tower on Mt. Constitution with commanding views of the San Juan Islands and Canadian Coast Range, and Washington's Cascade and Olympic Mountains. Other nearby hiking and walking areas such as Crescent Beach, and Turtleback Mountain Preserve are also a short drive from the house.
Kayak and outer island boating excursions are available from the popular North Beach area less than a mile away, with several guide services operating from that location. Kayak rentals are available at nearby Crescent Beach for protected paddling in Eastsound. Bike rentals are also available in Eastsound.
