The Junior's Long Island Pizza tradition begins with "Junior" Castellaneta, an Italian immigrant who, in 1909, left Italy, arrived on Ellis Island, and was quickly welcomed into the Italian-American culture of New York City's "Little Italy". Junior spent years cooking and baking his way through pizzerias and Italian restaurants until he gathered up family and finances and headed out to the great land of opportunity -- Long Island, NY.
Junior's pizzeria was an instant success, due in large part to delicious, time-inspired recipes created back then that are still enjoyed at our restaurant today. Upon his retirement, Junior would most often be found either playing shuffleboard at Jones Beach -- always Parking Lot #5 -- or spending quality time with family down at Eisenhower Park. Today, Junior's descendants still carry on his tradition of delighting family and friends with classic Italian and American meals, and look forward to sharing this same tradition with you and your family.
Whether you're enjoying one of our delicious entrees, or enjoying the ballgame while sharing one of Junior's specialty pizza pies, we hope you'll love the casual atmosphere and friendly, personable service. We're pleased to bring Junior's famous pizza and authentic Italian recipes to Durham, NC. Family-owned and operated, Junior's Long Island Pizza is the best pizza the Triangle has to offer. Enjoy!
