Located on the coast half way between the northernmost and southernmost point of the Croatian Adriatic, the city of Biograd is the ideal starting point for further tourist expeditions of the surrounding area, but also the more distant attractions along the coast. Nearby there are three national parks, two nature parks, and several historical cities, which offer numerous sites for exploration.
Biograd has a large offer of sports and recreational activities. Just a 10 minutes’ walk from downtown, you can find a tennis centre in the shade of a pine forests next to the nearby beaches Dražica and Soline. The centre includes night lightning and features 14 clay and six hard courts. In immediate vicinity there are courts for football, basketball, handball, mini golf, outdoor bowling bocce and more. Inside the Soline Camp you can also find volleyball sand courts. Biograd with its surrounding areas has several mapped bike routes divided according to the difficulty of the route, and they stretch along Pakostane and Vrana Lake. Less enthusiastic bikers will enjoy a ride along Soline Park.
Hikers can experience something new in addition to the mapped routes in the Biograd's surroundings and Vrana Lake. Trekking is organized on the island of Pašman– that is, trekking on sharp island rocks. Aside from this, there is a horseback riding school, therapeutic riding, as well as the possibility of organizing a summer riding camp on a ranch house in Jankolovica next to Vrana Lake. Vrana Lake also offers a peaceful location for bird watching and fishing enthusiasts.
Biograd organizes plenty of content designed for children. Alongside providing fun beach games, the hotels and the public outdoor pool have a summer swimming school, as well as various water games.
The semi-submarine may look like a real submarine but it doesn’t submerge. This “mascot of the Biograd archipelago” is an excellent choice for families with small children, although it’s equally appealing to visitors of all ages.
The passengers can be accommodated in an underwater cabin with large clear glass windows through which they have an unforgettable view of the marine flora and fauna.
Located in the most indented part of the Adriatic Sea, and the area with the largest number of islands and several national and nature parks, Biograd is an ideal starting point for sailors. It has a modern marina with 1,000 sea berths and 200 land berths, a yacht service, guarded parking for approximately 700 cars and other additional services.
Swimming and Water Sports
Biograd has terrific public beaches just within reach, connected with the city centre by a promenade. IThey have facilities of all sorts – entertainment, dining, sports and events for children. In the beaches’ immediate vicinity there is a pine forest.
Right off the main beach, towards the settlement Kumenat, there is an nudist FKK beach .
There are diving centres on the beaches Dražica and Bošana which regularly organise diving schools in the summer. Renting scooters, dinghies, canoes or pedal boats is another possibility. You can go paragliding, water skiing, and surfing and partake in other attractive sports activities on beach Dražica. Some of the tourist agencies organize sailing schools of various classes, as well as skipper courses. Their offers also include rafting on the rivers Krka and Zrmanja and elsewhere, and diving trips to the Kornati.
