Here are my personal recommendations:
✔︎How is the area?
The charming neighborhood area has become very popular with young professionals buying homes from the 1920s and 30s and fixing them up, given this part of the neighborhood is walking distance to many of the hot restaurants and shops in the area.
While in downtown Charleston area be sure to visit the local landmarks such as the Joseph P. Riley Baseball Stadium (known to locals as “The Joe” with fireworks every Friday night in-season), The Citadel, Brittlebank Park, Rainbow row, just to name a few.
On the western side, a new 4 million square foot multi-use development called WestEdge is under construction, while on the eastern side of this neighborhood from Rutledge Avenue to King Street, Westside neighborhood has been the Holy City's “hottest" growing neighborhoods for the last five years. Known for its historic charm, friendly residents, and eclectic "mom and pop" eateries and bars springing up almost daily, it has much to offer.
Need an upscale salon or an old school barber shop? Take your pick. Upper King (only a few blocks away) is bursting with shops, award-winning restaurants, bars, and nightlife. Every Saturday, Marion Square (10 minute walk) hosts a Farmers’ Market with locally-grown produce, handmade goods, and delicious food stands.
With so many shops, restaurants and other sites within walking distance, our location provides you with the luxury of parking your car if you choose and hitting the pavement during your stay via foot, the FREE Carta DASH shuttle, bike, pedicab, free trolley, or Uber.
Charleston is an extremely unique city on the eastern seaboard. Unparalleled in its charm, growing rapidly, and always expanding its culinary and arts scene while still maintaining its historical integrity, the Holy City has much to offer.
For an authentic Charlestonian experience, visit the Charleston City Market, one of the oldest public markets in America. Stretching over four city blocks, the market boasts over 300 vendors. There are also plenty of great coffee shops and quiet places to take your laptop and work if you don't want to work "at home".
Purlieu French Restaurant, Upper King St, The Riverdogs Baseball Stadium, Citadel Military College, Brittle Bank Park, Westedge Developement, Arthur W. Christopher Community Center.
If you have a car there is free parking on street in front of the house just observe the street signs.
Walking is really the way to go when downtown , the peninsula is only 3 miles in length, and there are tons of scenic side streets to find such as Upper King Street where all the bars and most of the restaurants are!
Too hot to walk?
