Waterfront property located on the shores of Smith's Bay on Lake Ontario, Happiness Haven is a peaceful pet-friendly escape from it all. Just 10 minutes from Picton and minutes to the County’s first winery, County Cider Company and Waupoos Marina, there is always something to do. Enjoy the 126 feet of waterfront on Lake Ontario for swimming and boating. The waterfront on this property has easy water access provided by a gentle sloping shoreline. The 40’ long dock with a ladder into the water makes exiting the lake after swimming a breeze. Kayaks, which are provided for guests, can be safely launched and docked from this site.
Inside this beautifully renovated home is a cozy double-sided fireplace which provides ambience from both the tv room and the sunroom. The sunroom is beautifully furnished and has 40 feet of windows where one can watch the activities in the bay including kayakers and dragon boaters. The flooring on the main level is made of reclaimed 9” pine boards from 200 year old logs salvaged from the Ottawa River. The three bedrooms on the main floor are small but functional with Queen beds in each.
Downstairs, you will find a large room with separate walk-out entrance and the ability to close off from the rest of the house should you choose. Here you will find two double beds, kitchenette with 2nd fridge and a 3 piece bathroom. A picture window allows for lots of natural light.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, toaster, griddle, coffee maker, slow cooker, kettle, utensils, cookware and dishes. Sit on a bar stool at the kitchen counter and keep the chef of the family company. Off the kitchen you will find a large dining room which seats 10.
The patio doors allow for easy access to the large 22’ x 10’ main floor deck with glass railings and gas bbq, where outdoor lunches and dinners can be enjoyed.
Air conditioning is provided but nobody in this area has air conditioning or uses it. We strongly recommend that you keep the windows open and enjoy the experience of the breeze off the water.

NEW FOR 2019: Queen beds in two of the upper bedrooms replace the doubles. New flooring in lower level and kitchenette installed. Entrance to water has been eased by waterfront improvements.
-Pets are allowed. Please ASK first. Let us know breed.
-Cats have been on the premises for the last 2 years when not rented out.
-There is a wheelchair ramp on West side of House, the cottage is not fully wheelchair accessible however
-Owner lives in "The Studio" on the property over 100 feet away from the cottage.
-The driveway is shared with the Owner but there is parking enough for 4 vehicles
-Guests have FULL and private use of the cottage, yard, waterfront. Owner will greet guests upon arrival.
-The 3 bedrooms upstairs are on the small side. Guests may request with the Owner that room is made in the bedroom with the ensuite to accommodate a crib for the duration of the stay
-It is the guests' responsibility to move all furniture that was moved to accommodate them back into place at the end of their stay or extra charges will apply
-The lower bedroom has low hanging duct work in the centre of the room and is suitable for people under 5'7', or you will need to duck.
-This is a waterfront cottage and it can be damp in the lower bedroom. The humidifier must be running and if it's not, the Owner notified. It is recommended that air conditioning be turned on to keep humidity at 75%. If the a/c is on, all windows should remain closed.
-Guests must bring ALL LINENS including sheets, pillowcases, bath towels, beach towels, bath mats, hand towels and kitchen towels. A blanket and pillows are provided. Please contact Owner if required for more info once you receive our Welcome package.
Note on air conditioning for summer stays from the Owner:
"Air conditioning is provided but nobody in this area has air conditioning or uses it. We strongly recommend that you keep the windows open and enjoy the experience of the breeze off the water. If you want the Holiday Inn air conditioning experience, then this is not the place to be. The lower level has been designed to be naturally cool and when the air conditioning is on the space becomes colder. When the air conditioning is on it is absolutely essential that the provided dehumidifier is on because the effect is similar to the condensation you will find in a freezer."
