Local artisans crafted this bungalow's furnishings from the bamboo that readily grows along nearby rivers. Decorated in greens, browns and splashes of purple, this bamboo bungalow shines! Surround netting falls over a new queen-sized bed, and ceiling fans cool the room. There is shelving, a desk and a safe for storing valuables. Hardwood floor, privacy window coverings and large bath with beautiful glass bowl sink and shower accented with glass tiles. A private deck with sitting chairs and an ocean view is right out your front door!
About Leaning Palm Resort: The Bamboo Bungalow is located at Leaning Palm Resort which rests on the shores of the Caribbean Sea in a completely undeveloped coastline. It is truly off the beaten path and offers a unique opportunity to experience the real Belize, before high rise hotels and swim up bars lined the coastline. You can literally walk the beach for miles in either direction and not see anyone else - you can truly immerse yourself in nature and unplug from it all. And when it is time to get out and do some exploring, we are not far from the fun and can have you on a cave with Maya artifacts or dangling off a rope into a waterfall in no time.
Due to our unique location a variety of Belize’s adventures are close at hand. Book a trip on our private 35’ cruiser to a private 1.2-acre caye for some snorkeling in Belize’s famous coral reefs. Head to Bocawina National Park consisting of over 7,100 acres of lush jungle, refreshing waterfalls and ancient Mayan sites where you can zip through the jungle tops and even rappel down a waterfall. Find yourself in the world’s first jaguar preserve and enjoy Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary’s jungle trails, amazing vistas and maybe even a little river tubing. Float through St. Herman’s cave system or take a swim in the interior Blue Hole’s turquoise waters or kayak to the nearby Manatee Spring through lagoons and mangroves for some lunch in the village of Gales Point Manatee. Whether you choose to relax on the beach in a gently swinging hammock or take in a Belize adventure you will find Leaning Palm Resort to be the perfect home base.

Wild Canes is open to the public for lunch daily from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and offers a rotating selection of creative dishes influenced by available produce and local cuisine.
Due to our unique off-the-beaten path location at Leaning Palm Resort we offer various meal plans. Forty-Eight (48) hours’ notice is requested if you plan to participate in our meal plans. This allows us time to plan and shop for your meals as the nearest markets and vendors are an hour’s drive, on mostly dirt roads, from our location.
Contact us for pricing and a sampling of some of the meals we serve at Wild Canes as part of our meal plans.
Some guests are surprised upon arriving at Leaning Palm Resort as we really are off-the-beaten-path. Some assume that there will be other restaurants in the area or grocery stores. So, we offer another gentle reminder that we are an hour’s drive away from the nearest markets and restaurants, with the exception of Gentile’s Cool Spot which is a 6-mile drive on bumpy roads and into the small fishing village of Gales Point Manatee. Gentile’s is a great spot to try some authentic Creole food and the setting is on the front porch of the Gentile family home looking out over the Southern Lagoon. A Great Experience! Gentile’s is our lunch stop on our Three Lagoon’s Kayaking Tour which includes a kayak into the village for lunch as well as visiting 3 lagoons, the manatee spring and some special surprises!
Packing: When piling all those swimsuits, shorts and tanks into your suitcase, remember to also throw in at least one pair of long pants and one long sleeved shirt. This will serve you well when you are tired of applying bug spray or you have had more sun than the sunscreen can keep up with. A hat is also a great idea. Also bring, sunscreen, bug spray (100% deet can be helpful especially for jungle excursions), anti-itch cream, Benadryl in case of an allergic reaction, water shoes or Keen-like shoes that can get wet but are comfortable for hiking. For the ATM Cave tour you will need a pair of socks - there is a section of the cave where socks must be worn to protect the cave features.
Ask for our full packing list and we will send that along.
We do have pets - two overly friendly pit-bull-mixes and an adopted stray and they love people! If you do not like dogs, then this probably is not the place for you.
Service Charge: Service Charge of 8% is not included in the Vrbo rate. This charge will be assessed on your final bill at check out for lodging.
Money: US money is readily accepted throughout Belize so there is really no need to exchange currency. Be sure and bring BRAND NEW money as banks will not accept worn or torn money so most business will also not take it. When you use US money you will most always receive your change in Belize money. About 50% of businesses take credit cards so plan on bringing some cash especially for tipping and dining at local establishments or purchasing local crafts. Leaning Palm Resort does not currently accept Credit Cards, but we can process payments through PayPal for meals, transportation, excursions and gift shop purchases.Get the full listing »
