Aboard her, you will cruise the gentle waters of the Bahamas, anchoring every night in the lee of an embracing desert cay. Like to swim? The temperature of the Bahamas’ crystal-blue water averages an amazing 80°F year-round! You can snorkel in the clearest waters on earth right off the boat in the morning and swim with turtles in the afternoon (maybe even meet a dolphin face to face!). You can stroll untracked beaches in the evening and end the day with relaxing sundowners on the bow. Every meal will be delicious, prepared just for you, featuring the best seafood in the world. What can be more fresh than fresh caught?!
About Your Charter Yacht: Viento is a French-built Belize 43’ sailing catamaran, one of the most popular cruising catamarans of all time. It is the perfect boat for cruising the gorgeous waters of the Bahamas, as she is fast, safe, comfortable and fun. Belize model cats are well known for their superior sailing capabilities, ease of handling and unparalleled safety and cruising comfort.
Guest Accommodations: Viento can accommodate up to four guests. She has two guest cabins and two bathrooms, both well lit and airy, and both with Queen sized beds, perfect for couples. The starboard-side Master suite includes an in-suite bathroom and shower as well as sitting area. The port-side guest cabin is similarly designed, but shares a bathroom/shower with the up-front crew cabin. The salon includes a spacious galley and indoor dining for six. The outdoor cockpit includes a dining table for six and lots of space to sit, talk and enjoy the beauty. Convenient transom steps provide easy access to the water. Moving around the deck is easy as well, with optimal step height and wide side passages. A large trampoline deck up front provides a sweet place for quiet evening conversations.
Activities: Viento is all about fun. Like to learn how Stand Up Paddle board? We have two. Want to swim? You’ll find a large locker filled with masks, fins and snorkels. How about scuba? We have 7 cylinders aboard. Just bring your BC and regulator and we’ll dive the clearest waters in the world together, or hook you up with a great local outfitter. Kiteboard? When the wind blows hard, there’s nothing more fun! Bring your gear and we will show you great kite spots (butter smooth flat water and wave). How about fishing? Got you covered there too…both deep-sea trolling and spear fishing among giant heads of coral.
Looking for more relaxing fare? How about a morning yoga session on the bow, or an afternoon in George Town with its boutiques, restaurants and colorful Caribbean culture? The Chat & Chill bar on Volleyball Beach is a must stop for anyone wanting an ice-cold Rum Punch and good conversation with cruisers from around the world. And… there are few activities more pleasant than a gentle stroll on an untracked beach.
How you spend your time aboard Viento while cruising the enchanting waters of the Bahamas is entirely up to you. Once you are aboard we’ll talk and determine a daily plan that’s perfect for you.
Hosts & Crew: Viento is owned and captained by Doug Daggett. Doug has sailed Caribbean waters for much of the past decade with open water passages as far north as Bar Harbor, Maine and far south as Venezuela. This past year, Doug captained Viento to back-to-back crossings of the North Atlantic with extended cruises into the Mediterranean and along the North African coast. In addition to guaranteeing your comfort and safety as ship’s captain, Doug is a teller of tall tales, a kite boarder, diver, photographer, and fisherman.
Carolyn Flaherty is the ship’s 1st Mate and your chef and concierge. She too has extensive sailing experience in both the South Pacific, North Atlantic and Caribbean. What’s more, Carolyn is an emergency room nurse, helicopter pilot, free diver, trekker and student of yoga.
Together, Doug and Carolyn have the skills and experience to provide you with the most amazing vacation of your life.
Rates: Please note the VRBO Calculator is inaccurate in that it provides no provision for the number of people joining the charter. The rate for a one week charter (7 night minimum, 2 person minimum) for 2-3 people is $421/person/day. If the charter is for four people, the price is discounted to $350/person/day. This includes all breakfasts, 5 lunches and 5 dinners, as well as all on-board activities. Meals not provided may be obtained at one of the many local restaurants. Land-based activities such as island tours or car rentals can be arranged at client expense.
