The Blue Rock Mountain Retreat is conveniently located on the main street in Harrietville, and is within walking distance to the two pubs, the General Store, Ice-Creamery, playground and Hoys ski-hire store.
The house is set on a large block of land that backs directly onto the junction of the East and West branches of the Ovens River. It is a beautiful setting for fishing and swimming during the warmer months.
During the winter months, Harrietville is the ideal location for off-mountain accommodation, being only a 45 minute drive to Mt Hotham village. Ski and board hire equipment is available just down the road, at Hoys.
The house itself is set up in two parts, which can be cordoned off for smaller groups, where required. The front section of the house has 3 bedrooms and a bathroom with a separate toilet. There is a separate tv / lounge area, which then joins into the spacious kitchen and dining area, complete with a wood stove and split system air conditioner.
The back section of the house contains another 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and the laundry, which can also be accessed via the side porch.
The bedroom configuration is as follows:
Bedroom 1: 1 x King Bed (sleeps 2)
Bedroom 2: 1 x Single and 1 x Bunk (sleeps 3)
Bedroom 3: 2 x Single Beds (sleeps 2)
Bedroom 4: 1 x Bunk and 1 x Single (sleeps 3)
Bedroom 5: 1 x King (sleeps 2)
There is an additional mattress located in the cupboard of Bedroom 4, if needed.
The BBQ is located on the back porch, which has recently been extended to provide ample outdoor relaxing and dining space.
The surrounding area is a fantastic location to entertain adults and children alike. Some of the attractions in Harrietville include Tronah Lake (The Dredgehole), located approximately 1km from the house, which is a man-made lake that has a jetty, floating pontoon and picnic facilities.
Further up Feaethertop Track, you will find the Blueberry Farm, which operates on an honesty system during berry season (the summer months).
5km back towards Bright is the Trout and Salmon Farm. You can either catch your own fish here, or stop past the shop.
There are also a number of cafes in the area, including Morries Ice Creamery, the Lavender Farm, and the General Store. In addition, the Snowline Hotel, located 650m up the road, provides a great counter meal and often has live entertainment.Get the full listing »
