Skyhouse Retreat is inspirational holiday accommodation situated amongst ancient karri trees, high on Weedon Hill, Denmark, WA.
With decks adjoining every room, the sounds, smells and sights of the surrounding forest are always only a few steps away. When you live in the Skyhouse only floor to ceiling walls of glass separate you from nature's ever changing panorama.
Birdlife abounds on Weedon Hill. From the tiny speckled Pardelotes that dig burrows in the ground to live in, to the majestic Sea Ospreys whose enormous nests are over a metre across. This you can all see.
At night the forests abounds with all manner of little furry critters and whooping owls. The local possums may well climb up the poles of the house and visit at your kitchen door (fruit only please!)
The building's unusual pole frame construction of hardwood poles and beams - it's sturdy 'inner skeleton' allows it to have external walls that seem to almost not be there. The curved roofs float above the walls appearing to be hardly attached at all. This results in a habitat that is light, whimsical, unexpected and truly organic.
The interior of the Skyhouse is craftsman built with many unexpected delights. Light and colour to stimulate and caress are a feature in every room of the Skyhouse.

The vicinity of your humble abode also offers much scope for some "adventures." The Skyhouse overlooks one of Denmark's best kept secrets. 'The Magic Circle' is a cluster of giant granite boulders topping the crown of Weedon Hill. Sitting on these you are right up in the forest canopy. With the birds!
A wonderful place to relax, read a book or just sit and be with nature. Just two minutes from your front door.
With no near neighbours, you might be deep in the wilderness. You can guarantee the only sounds you will hear will be birdsongs, the wind in the trees, and if it's still... the waves crashing on Ocean Beach, just 1 kilometre away across the inlet. And yet, you are just three kilometres from the town centres - Shops, Galleries, Cafe's etc.
If you feel like walking, two hundred metres away at the base of Weedon Hill is the Bibbulmun Track.
Walk to the East it will take you along the Wilson Inlet through bushland towards the Denmark River and Town. To the West, it will lead you along the Inlet for several kilometres then up Mount Hallowell for some fantastic vistas and to Lights Beach.
For a more relaxing outing, just stroll down to the bottom of the hill to Honeymoon Cove; canoeing, boating or just sitting under the paperbark trees watching the waterbirds.
Further afield, a short seven kilometre drive will take you to Ocean Beach for great swimming, surfing and fishing.Get the full listing »
