Stockton artist, Dorothy Willner’s finely crafted oil paintings will be on display in the historic Prall House from Saturday, Dec. 6 thru Sunday, December 14, from 12 noon to 5pm. There will be an artist’s reception on Sat., Dec. 6.

Mrs. Willner worked as a magazine illustrator during the 1940’s before marrying Ray Willner. Ray was a professional artist; probably best know for illustrating comic books about Buster Brown and his dog Tige. Throughout most of their long marriage, Dorothy put her own art career on a backburner as she assisted her husband in his career and raised two children. However, she never stopped drawing and painting.

Since moving to Stockton, more than twenty years ago Dorothy has created a beautiful series of great oil paintings. Her friend and fellow Stockton artist Mike Mann says, “Her skill and precision are just amazing, but the most wonderful part of her art is the remarkable sense of design she brings to every picture!” Many of her works are landscapes and scenes done from photographs she took close to her home. She also does beautiful floral paintings as well as carefully crafted miniatures and portraits. This show will mark the first time such a large collection of her great work has ever been on display and sale.

The Prall House is a large 1794 brownstone home located at the north end of Stockton, NJ across Rte. 29 from the Prallsville Mills. Please park in the Stockton Visitors’ Lot and cross with caution. The artist will be on hand to greet visitors on Saturdays and Sundays, December 6, 7, 13 and 14. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Delaware River Mill Society.
