Marty Balin - 415 Music - Album Promo & Video [mp3]

It's funny that 30 years later these recordings would finally see the light of day. This album is a snapshot of Marty Balin with his first solo band in the early eighties. I shoot the album cover photo during production of a television show I produced in 1980 "San Francisco Rocks" in which Marty hosted.
The first four album tracks were recorded in the studio live with no over dubs at White Rabbit studios in April 1980. I ended up with what would become the only mix master of these sessions. The multi track tapes were lost.
Track 5 "Take A Chance On Love" was given to me by guitarist Johnny DeCaro. The mystery here is why this great epic tune was never released. The live tracks came from the Concord Pavilion - July 4th, 1982 concert.
I was producing a story about Marty for MTV and needed 10 seconds of the hit song "Hearts" for the segment. It seemed like a good excuse to shoot the concert with two cameras. Oddly, this is the only known video capturing Marty's first solo band. The monster song "Loves Got A Hold On Me" was never recorded in the studio.
