About the Museum
In 1985, five men-two Marines, two Air Force, and one Army-all had a vision for a military museum, dedicated to honoring the men and women who served their country in times of peace and conflict.
Plans don’t always go smoothly, but dreams die hard and the persistence and commitment of these five men finally paid off. The first Military Veterans Museum opened its doors in the Park Plaza in Oshkosh in 1991. Since that humble beginning, the museum has continued a steady growth-so much so that it has now outgrown its present quarters. Plans are now underway for a permanent new facility-the “Fields of Honor” Military Veterans Museum-to be built in the very near future.
A non-profit corporation, the current museum is staffed entirely by volunteers and supported through membership dues and tax deductible donations.
